Our Favorite Fall Activities

With the onset of cooler weather and fall quickly approaching it is a great time to create new memories and enjoy recreation in many different (and affordable) ways!

Fall is the ideal time to get outdoors and play! It's not too hot and not too cold so get out there and have some fun! We have some ideas to get you started and hope you enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery that fall has to offer.

Outdoor Activities:
  1. Have a picnic at one of your local parks! (Riverbend Park and Bedrock Park are beautiful in the fall with the Feather River complementing the colorful trees)
  2. Go for a Bike Ride!
  3. Play a "pick up" game of football, soccer, baseball or any sport that you love!
  4. Take a nature walk and make sure to bring your camera! The colors, climate and lighting of fall makes for great photography! Also, on your nature walk you can collect items such as, pine cones, acorns, leaves, etc. and use them in arts, crafts and fall decor.
  5. Visit a local pumpkin patch, corn maze and local farms.
  6. Rake a pile of leaves and jump in them!
  7. Go fishing, it is very relaxing.
  8. Take a hike, in our area we recommend hiking to Feather Falls or Bald Rock.
  9. Tennis is also much more enjoyable in the cooler months!
  10. Visit local festivals in your area (Salmon Festival, Ocktoberfest, etc.)
  11. Play a round of disc golf.
  12. Take your dogs out to the dog park or on a walk. Some dogs do not handle the heat well, therefore fall is a perfect time to exercise them outdoors.
  13. Participate in a charity walk, 5K or other runs/walks.
  14. Fall is perfect for flying a kite.
  15. Host a horseshoe or cornhole tournament.
  16. Gather with your friends to do yoga in the park!
  17. Go stargazing
  18. Host a bonfire or campfire party at your house and roast marshmallows.

Indoor Activities:
  1. Pumpkin Carving
  2. Host a chili cook off
  3. Use items from your nature walk to create crafts or make a scrapbook.
  4. Make a scarecrow.
  5. Visit your local farmers market or farms and try out new recipes. Soups are especially delicious in the fall.
  6. Visit the library to get books that are "fall themed".

Now that you have some inspiration for fall activities, go have some fun!!! The first day of Fall is Saturday, September 22, 2012!
